Shaft Manufacturer to Establish Presence Upon Tour’s Return to
the States

Memphis, TN – March 19, 2003 – True Temper Sports, the world leading golf shaft manufacturer, will begin on-site club fitting and maintenance for the Nationwide Tour this month. When the Nationwide players return to the U.S. for the Louisiana Open, True Temper will have two representatives and an equipment trailer waiting to serve them. True Temper’s Nationwide Tour personnel plan to make between 16 and 18 stops on the 2003 Nationwide Tour, and they anticipate reshafting and customizing hundreds golf clubs each week.

True Temper is the only shaft manufacturer that has a full-time presence on the PGA and Nationwide Tours; but the company’s Manager of Tour Operations, Chad Hall, feels that it is a worthy investment. “With the addition of the Nationwide presence, we are doubling our tour effort this year,” Hall stated. “The additional expenses of another technical representative, more product, and van maintenance, are substantial; but we consider the Nationwide Tour the proving ground for tomorrow’s stars.

“These guys are the future of the game,” Hall continued. “It’s guaranteed that at least 20 players on the Nationwide Tour this year will be on the PGA Tour next year.” After all, golf greats like Ernie Els, David Duval, John Daly, David Toms, and Tom Lehman all got their start on a developmental tour, such as the Nationwide Tour.
