TRUE TEMPER NAMES TOP MANAGEMENT TEAM
Memphis, Tennessee - February 5, 1996 - Scott Hennessy, newly appointed
President of True Temper Sports, announced today the
appointment of two new vice presidents: Howard A. Lindsay as Vice President of
Engineering and Mark T. Lang as Vice President of Operations.
Mr. Lindsay, 38, joins True Temper from ViaTech, Inc., a recreational tubing
supplier located in Phoenix, Arizona, where he served as engineering and general
manager. He has extensive experience in the composite industry, working in the
past for Hercules and Simula, Inc., in addition to his recent tenure with
ViaTech. He brings to True Temper a broad background in product design,
materials technology and the directing of project teams. In his new role, he
will be responsible for leading all the development, design and test initiatives
for steel and graphite golf shafts, as well as specialty tubing products.
Lindsay holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University.
In a related move, Howard Butler was appointed Vice President of Special
Technologies, a newly created position focusing on the further development of
diagnostic and analytical devices for dynamics evaluation and the improved
fitting of golf shafts.
Mark T. Lang, 39, joins True Temper Sports from its parent Black & Decker, where
he has been serving as the Operations Director for the Shelbyville, Kentucky
facility which specializes in metal forming and plating. Before joining Black &
Decker in 1994, Lang spent 15 years with the General Electric Company in a
variety of manufacturing, engineering and management positions. He is a graduate
of the GE Manufacturing Management Program and holds a Masters in Industrial
Engineering from the University of Tennessee. In this new position, he will be
responsible for the entire supply chain, including plant operations,
distribution, purchasing, inventory management and new product implementation.
All three positions will report directly to Scott Hennessy, president of the
company.
Commenting on the moves, Hennessy states: “We are very excited about our new
management appointments and feel they will help to implement our aggressive
growth strategy centered around new product development, materials and process
innovation, and unsurpassed customer support and service.”
True Temper is the largest producer of golf shafts throughout the world and is
consistently the number one shaft used on the PGA tour -- bypassing all other
shaft companies combined. Along with the golf business, True Temper is also a
leading supplier of bicycle and specialty tubing for the recreational industry.
