TRUE TEMPER’S GRAND OPENING WELL ATTENDED BY OEM COMMUNITY

Memphis, TN - November 21, 1996 - True Temper has strengthened its leadership position in golf shaft technology with the October opening of its West Coast Technical Center located in Carlsbad, California. The new facility will be used to support the large number of club manufacturers in region. This location will help the company expedite the design and development of proprietary steel and composite golf shafts. A well attended open house was held in October for the management teams of key OEM’s, with the facility being fully operational in January.

The tech center is equipped with the same specialized testing equipment that club manufacturers have access to at the company’s headquarters in Memphis, TN. True Temper President, Scott Hennessy points out, “By locating a second R & D lab in a region with so many industry leaders, True Temper can reduce response time and provide critical feedback at the earliest stages of development. One of the services our OEM partners will be able to take advantage of is our proprietary System Integration Process, a technology that matches club heads to shafts for optimum performance.”

Staffed by sales management, product engineering and testing personnel, this location will maintain a constant on-line communication with the Memphis office. True Temper’s Shaft Lab™, a computerized shaft fitting system, which allows for a full analysis of swing and shaft dynamics was featured at the grand opening. Along with other proprietary testing equipment, a full selection of True Temper steel and graphite shafts for customized testing and sampling will be maintained. This expansion is another example of True Temper’s dedication to achieving world class customer support.
