TRUE TEMPER OPENS JAPANESE AFFILIATE

Memphis, Tennessee - June 18,1997 - Scott Hennessy, President of True Temper Sports announced today the opening of the company’s third international affiliate: True Temper Japan. The Japanese company will be charged with growing sales and improving service to the 2nd largest golf market in the world. The Japanese operation joins True Temper’s other international affiliates located in Australia and Europe. Each of the businesses are responsible for the sale and distribution of the company’s full line of steel and composite golf shafts.
In a related move, the company has appointed Osamu (Sammy) Narita, formally of MacGregor Golf Japan, to oversee the start up operation. Narita, a 15 year industry veteran, brings an extensive background in sales, marketing, logistics and operations. He will report to Adrian McCall, Director of International Sales and Marketing for True Temper.
Commenting on the announcement, Hennessy states: “We are very excited about our new Japanese venture and the appointment of Mr. Narita. Expanding True Temper’s distribution in Japan and the Far East is all part of our strategy of international growth and market specific design.”
True Temper is the largest producer of golf shafts throughout the world and is consistently the number one shaft used on the PGA tour -- bypassing all other shaft companies combined.
