TRUE TEMPER UNVEILS NEW TOUR VAN

Memphis, TN - May 28, 1998 - True Temper Sports introduced its new PGA tour van at the 1998 Shell Houston Open. This year’s tour schedule will take the new tour van and an existing van that shares time with the Senior PGA, LPGA, and Nike tours to over 60 professional events.

“True Temper’s commitment to the PGA tour has never been stronger,” says Bill Beatty, Director of Marketing for True Temper. “The new van displays updated graphics supporting True Temper’s brands and products while providing a more work-friendly environment for our tour technicians. The tour program is an important component in our strategic marketing plan. Our overwhelming success on tour can be directly attributed to our strong presence,” notes Beatty. Players using True Temper shafts have won 42 events in 1998 (PGA, Senior PGA, Nike, LPGA). Players using True Temper shafts with SensiCore® won twenty of those events.

True Temper’s involvement on tour began in the late 1920’s. At that time, the main focus of the tour program was to simply showcase True Temper’s revolutionary steel shafts to the world’s best player. While today’s tour program still promotes True Temper’s brands and products, it is also used to strengthen relationships with OEM partners, and as a key component in the product development process. “Momentum for new products can be built on tour. Notah Begay shot his record tying 59 playing our new Quantum with SensiCore shaft at the Nike tour’s Dominion Open. That one round of golf has created a great deal of interest in that product,” adds Beatty.

True Temper Sports is the largest producer of golf shafts in the world. True Temper is proud to be the shaft brand of choice to the world’s best players and club makers. True Temper manufactures a full line of steel and graphite shafts.
