TRUE TEMPER AWARDS PGM SCHOLARSHIP
Sponsors Mississippi State University Player of the Semester
Starkville, MS - May 8, 1998 - True Temper Sports awarded two scholarships today
to the Professional Golf Management Program at Mississippi State University. The
scholarships were awarded to the top two finishers in the semester long
tournament point standings. The point race concluded with the season ending
Tournament of Champions held at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Philadelphia,
Mississippi.
The Player of the Semester, John Hagerty, a senior from Sommerdale, New Jersey,
was awarded a $500 scholarship, while the second place finisher, Andy Hilts, a
senior from Wales, Wisconsin, received a $250 scholarship. Mississippi State is
one of four PGA sanctioned Professional Golf Management Programs in the country.
“True Temper is proud to be involved with the PGM program,” says Jim Bembenek,
Assistant Marketing Manager for True Temper and a 1993 graduate of the PGM
program at Mississippi State. “Future involvement will not only include
tournament sponsorship activities but also educational opportunities for
students in the program.”
