RAYMOND JOHNSON NAMED VICE PRESIDENT, OPERATIONS AND ENGINEERING

Memphis, TN - July 12, 1999 - True Temper Sports announced today the appointment of Raymond J. Johnson to the position of Vice President of Operations and Engineering. In this newly created position, Mr. Johnson will oversee the company’s product development and design initiatives, along with all aspects of manufacturing operations.

Johnson brings an extensive background and expertise to True Temper with his past business experience with senior management positions at Technimark Corporation, Black & Decker, Bic Pen, and Union Carbide. He holds a degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina.

Johnson’s focus will be to continue to drive product innovation, improve manufacturing productivity, and work to develop a long-range worldwide strategy for customer service and supply chain management.
