TRUE TEMPER ENTERS THE HOCKEY MARKET
Memphis, TN - August 23, 2000 - True Temper Sports, Inc. announced their entry
into the hockey market today with the introduction of the Christian DiamondLite™
composite shaft. Developed in partnership with Christian Brothers, Inc. of
Warroad, MN, this shaft utilizes advanced materials and design concepts that are
new to the industry.
The DiamondLite™ composite shaft features the strength of Kevlar® in combination
with lightweight carbon fiber composite. Kevlar® is used in many products
needing high impact strength and cut resistance such as bulletproof vests,
anti-mine boots, and Space Shuttle air tanks. The DiamondLite™ features DuraTip™
reinforcement - an extra diamond shaped layer of Kevlar® at the tip for greatly
improved durability. The shaft has distinctive graphics and weighs just 295
grams in a 48-inch length.
"The DiamondLite™ is igniting excitement at all levels of play," says Bill
Christian of Christian Brothers. "It has the feel of wood in a composite shaft.
Within days of having the first prototypes on the ice, we had people calling to
place orders." Andrew York, Director and General Manager of True Temper's
Performance Tubing Division adds, "The marriage of our shaft technology with the
OEM's knowledge of the player and stick design has created the ultimate hockey
shaft."
True Temper Sports is the leading manufacturer of golf shafts in the world and
