‘IRON BYRON’ HITS FINAL TEE SHOT AT AUGUSTA
WITH NEW TRUE TEMPER BIMATRX™
Augusta, GA - April 9, 2001 - Byron Nelson played his first competitive round at
the Augusta National Golf Club in April 1935 and at shortly past 8:00 AM on
April 5th he wrote his final chapter at the Masters. After thanking “the
greatest gallery in the world” he swung his BiMatrx™ shafted Cleveland® QuadPro®
Titanium Driver with the same fluid swing that earned him two Masters titles
throughout his storied career.
True Temper Sports established a working relationship with Mr. Nelson in the
1960’s while using his swing as the model in the development of the Iron Byron
testing robot still utilized by golf equipment manufacturers’ and independent
testing facilities worldwide. Throughout his career he relied on the quality and
performance of True Temper® golf shafts and it is only fitting that the Company
was a part of his final farewell. True Temper celebrates the career of “Lord
Byron” and thanks him for the wonderful memories.
True Temper Sports is the leading manufacturer of golf shafts in the world and
is consistently the number one shaft on Tour. The Company markets a complete
