High Launch Tip Technology for Maximum Distance!

Memphis, TN - January 15, 2002 - True Temper Sports is proud to unveil the next generation BiMatrx shaft with the introduction of the Rocket®. Promoting optimum launch angle and increased clubhead speed, the Rocket delivers maximized carry and improved overall distance. “Testing has proven that one of the key factors in maximizing distance is to find the optimum launch conditions for each golfer,” states Scott Hennessy, President / CEO True Temper Sports. “The specially designed high launch tip section of the BiMatrx Rocket assists each player in optimizing those conditions.”

The BiMatrx Rocket represents the continued refinement of what proved to be one of the biggest announcements in the golf industry in 2001. “We launched an entirely new category of golf shaft last year with the introduction of BiMatrx technology,” notes Hennessy. “Now that we’ve proven the technology provides measurable benefits in both distance and dispersion, we are ready to expand the product family to target specific player needs just as we continue to do in steel and graphite.”

Internal player test results show that BiMatrx Rocket delivers the distance advantages of graphite while the steel tip section reduces shot dispersion by up to 40 percent. In addition, since its recent PGA Tour introduction at the 2001 National Car Rental Classic in mid-October, the Rocket has been well received by a host of tour professionals seeking a higher launch angle and increased yardage off the tee. “The best players in the world recognize the equal importance of distance and accuracy, “ continues Hennessy. “With the response we have received so far, we anticipate seeing many red Rocket shafts on Tour in 2002.”

The BiMatrx Rocket, available in A, R, S, and X flexes (.335” & .350” tip versions) can be found in all of the major OEM custom programs as well as component distributors. A significant percentage of True Temper’s 2002 multi-million dollar print and television campaign will be dedicated to the product.
