True Temper Celebrates 2012 Ryder Cup with Limited Edition Shafts

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Every sport has classic rivalries that excite diehard fans, and in golf today, there is no bigger, bolder battle of green-hitting giants than the Ryder Cup. The rivalry runs deep not just for Team USA and Team Europe, but for the two leading shafts brands in the world—Dynamic Gold and Project X.

True Temper Sports is proud to announce that it is honoring this classic rivalry with special limited edition Team USA and Team Europe Dynamic Gold Tour Issue and Project X shafts, featuring United States and European team graphics.

“Players on both Team USA and Team Europe will have their bags dominated by Dynamic Gold and Project X shafts, setting up the classic debate as to which of our shafts is the greatest in the world. No matter which side of the pond claims the Ryder Cup at Medina, True Temper will be a major factor in their victory along with both of our leading shaft brands,” says Scott Hennessy, president and CEO of True Temper Sports. “We want to celebrate our overwhelming presence at this event, and felt it was very fitting to specifically pay tribute to these two extremely talented and competitive teams with shafts that commemorate the Ryder Cup and the classic rivalry.”

Players on both sides of the field will actually replace their standard True Temper models with these limited edition “flag” branded shafts for the Ryder Cup. The shafts will be made available to all golfers for a limited time at no up charge through Golfsmith, Hireko Golf, The Golf Works, Swing Science and Performance Fitting Center dealers.

A portion of the proceeds from the special edition shafts will go to Birdies for the Brave, a military outreach initiative proudly supported by the PGA TOUR that is dedicated to supporting the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Since 2005, the PGA TOUR has joined with tour players and corporate partners to raise millions of dollars for military home front groups that provide critical programs and services to meet the specialized needs of wounded warriors and military families, through fundraising events at TPC clubs nationwide.
