ShaftLab Recommendations
The shaft recommendations are lists of shafts
that fit your
individualized needs for flex and tip stiffness.

The ShaftLab shaft recommendations are based
on a fundamental principle - the more you bend or deflect a golf
shaft during the down swing, the stiffer the shaft you need for
optimum performance. This is the primary factor among several Shaft
Lab uses in its calculations.
ShaftLab recommends the optimum shaft for
you to:
- maximize repeatability of impact, and
- maximize distance
ShaftLab is not judgmental about your ability.
Most observable aspects of a profile are not necessarily good or
bad. ShaftLab merely recommends the best shaft for your swing.
There are three main categories: composite
shafts, steel shafts, and shafts of special materials or design.
If a category has two models listed, the first is a standard weight
shaft, while the second is a light weight model. Choosing a shaft
from the list involves many potential factors, such as:
- Preference for materials
- Head design (parallel or tapered)
- Desired swing weight
- Desired 'feel'
- Desired trajectory
- Price
- Availability of products
Also, standard fitting practices will still
apply. If a golfer's length requirements are extreme, a shaft with
a nominal flex other than the recommended one may be used and trimmed
to produce the recommended flex.
